Ask An American: Why I Decided To Start This Blog

Hello! My name is "Homie" - OK, my name is Aaron, but I've been going by "Homie" for as long as I can remember, so I'm just going to stick with "Homie."

I'm an American, born and raised and lived here all my life. What's more, I love learning about things like language, food, daily life, and other aspects of the different cultures. And I love comparing and contrasting them to my own!

What I've noticed out there in the vast and wide-open world that is the internet is this: there are a lot of questions that foreigners have about America, and there are a lot of misconceptions that foreigners have about America as well.

I'm here to do my best to educate about those things. What you'll read here in this blog is a combination of my own personal experiences and feelings, plus whatever I can glean through research.

I don't pretend to speak for all Americans. My own experiences will, of course, be different than those of someone who has lived all of their life in New York or Los Angeles or Cheyenne. And of course, I bring my own attitudes to the table: attitudes about religion, attitudes about the role of government, attitudes about what's acceptable behavior in public, and so on.

But together (that is, me and you, the reader), my hope is that this blog will bring an entertaining and informative perspective to these questions. Please join me as I try to navigate that minefield that is American culture and why Americans are the way they are.
